Dr. Kenzou Tenma, an elite neurosurgeon recently engaged to his hospital director’s daughter, is well on his way to ascending the hospital hierarchy. That is until one night, a seemingly small event changes Dr. Tenma’s life forever. While preparing to perform surgery on someone, he gets a call from the hospital director telling him to switch patients and instead perform life-saving brain surgery on a famous performer. His fellow doctors, fiancée, and the hospital director applaud his accomplishment; but because of the switch, a poor immigrant worker is dead, causing Dr. Tenma to have a crisis of conscience.

The only negative I could say about this anime is that it‘s old and it‘s a bit long compared to modern standards. If these are the thing that matter to you in an anime than you shouldn‘t watch this one for sure. But, to be perfectly honest, I‘ve never met a person who watched this anime and said that it is bad, they might have said that it is not great/perfect or this isn‘t for them but they still haven‘t said that it‘s bad. The story is astonishing and it is as close to reality as it could, which makes this anime even more intriguing. I can only recommend this anime, but still, keep in mind that it‘s an old anime and the art might be nothing that you are used to and of course the 480p resolution is kind of a lackluster in 2019.
