Otonashi awakens only to learn he is dead. A rifle-toting girl named Yuri explains that they are in the afterlife, and Otonashi realizes the only thing he can remember about himself is his name. Yuri tells him that she leads the Shinda Sekai Sensen (Afterlife Battlefront) and wages war against a girl named Tenshi (angel). Unable to believe Yuri’s claims that Tenshi (angel) is evil, Otonashi attempts to speak with her, but the encounter doesn’t go as he intended. Otonashi decides to join the SSS and battle against Angel.
If you are searching for a funny anime this is a great choice for you, otherwise… Not really, it isn’t bad by any means, but neither good. I found the plot quite boring and unbelievably stupid at some times. However there were plenty enough jokes to keep me entertained while watching. There is one interesting of this anime that I have to point out, that the story is composed of 85% fantasy comedy and 15% dead seriousness, which in my opinion is the biggest downfall of this show. It just doesn’t feel right to laugh when 5 minutes ago I saw how someone died in a horrible way. About the ending… It’s not bad… But I don’t think it fit perfectly to this anime.
